Portsmouth: Part 1

Jim and I bravely ventured on our first family vacation this past weekend. Traveling with a 6 month old on Memorial Day weekend was more adventurous than we realized. It nearly didn't happen too. Jim took Charlie to the Dr. on Friday morning to follow up on his cough and we found out he had bronchitis. So Jim kept him home all day from school and rented a nebulizer and with Dr. Kim's ok we hit the road at 3:30 when I was done at work. The trip from NJ to Portsmouth should take 4 1/2 hours. We made it in 7 hours! Charlie hates riding in the car unless he's tired in which case he just sleeps. If he's not sleeping though, he is screaming bloody murder. Needless to say it was a very long evening. We stopped numerous times to give him breaks and our ears needed a break too. We checked into a brand new hotel in downtown Portsmouth and collapsed into bed. Saturday we went out to breakfast to Colby's (formerly Karen's for those of you that ate there when Chris and I were at UNH). Then we headed over to UNH so Jim could check out my old stomping grounds. Charlie got to see ATO (Uncle Chris's fraternity) and then we headed over to Exeter for lunch. Even with Charlie being sick he was very well-behaved once we got to our destination and has finally started enjoying being in his stroller, which makes walking around much easier now that we don't have to carry him in our arms.

  1. Best post ever. Ruh Rah Rega! Alpha Tau Omega! I'll have to check out Colby's next time I'm there. Last time we were there the boys terrorized the Bagelry.
