Hotel pool with Mommy

Charlie is our little water bug so his favorite parts of vacation were definitely the pool and splashing his feet in the ocean. Overall we had a really nice time, but wish it had been a little cooler. Can't wait for our next trip -- Chicago to see Baby Ohlhoff in October!

Newport (Part 3)

I'll take that house off in the distance...
Newest thing Charlie loves is drinking from our bottles

And then he is soaking wet..there is actually water dripping from his ear lobe!

Looking cool

These photos were taken when we went to take a tour of the Newport mansion called The Breakers. It is considered to be the biggest and best of the mansions available for tours. We weren't allowed to take any pictures inside, but I did snap a quick shot standing on the second floor balcony because I fell in love with the house next door. There were no strollers allowed so Jim had to carry Charlie the entire time we took the tour - in no A/C when it was in the 90s! You can see why we all needed to cool off with some water once we were back outside in the shade.

Newport (Part 2)

It felt a little wrong taking a baby to a wine tasting, but we did it anyway! What an amazing winery, such gorgeous views, beautiful day it was perfect. Charlie had fun sitting on the wood bar while we tried some whites and a red. Then we went out to the picnic table to feed him some lunch and enjoy the peace and quiet under the trees. From there we headed to a butterfly farm I had read about on Trip Advisor. All I can say is Oh. My. God. Ghetto! Since Jim loves me though we ventured inside of this sweltering hot box to be lectured in the tarp covered vestibule for what seemed like an eternity by the high school teacher who runs the place. He spoke of the dangers of letting anything fly out, government fines, the infamous Hoboken incident of Japanese rose beetles, death by firing squad, etc. When he felt we were aware of the repercussions and could handle ourselves responsibly (and saw my eyes glazing over) only then  could we actually enter the exhibit. We were in and out in under ten minutes. Charlie literally had sweat running down the side of his face! He did seem to enjoy seeing the butterflies flitting about though.
